Lyndon
Demers

My name is Lyndon, I am 38 years old and I have NF. I was diagnosed at the age of 3 with type 1 NF. There is no prior history in my family of this, so in turn I am the only one. I have only had one surgery and that was to remove a tumor near my eye. I will probably be going for another surgery within the next year.

NF hasn’t really affected me much in life; other than being asked at work if I have ever been in a fight. I try to explain it is a tumor and always try to let them know what NF really is. I have completed my Accounting Technician Course at RRC  . I also completed a Website Design Certificate and have a Website Portfolio ldemers.com.

I currently work at  Walmart Canada.  I remain very committed to volunteering with MBNF , as  I am now the treausrer. I also run a successful bi-weekly cribbage events.

In my spare time, I like playing PS5 and playing ball hockey, watching tv, hanging friends and family.

Before 2007, I had never met anyone else with NF; at times it was difficult being the only one with the disorder. In 2007 I had the pleasure of meeting the MBNF Support Group and was invited to their second meeting. I was able to meet a lot of nice families with NF and also Stephanie. For me, I feel fortunate knowing there are more people out there that have NF and I now know that this support will always be there. Since becoming part of MBNF, I have organized two “Surprise charity BBQ’s” and shoveled plenty of snow to help raise money and awareness for NF.

I just want to put big thanks out to the members of the MBNF Support Group, to my family and all my friends for the support I receive.
